I Picked Up a Hitchhiker

Curator’s note

A gorgeous stranger stands on the side of a desert road, and the driver of a beat-up truck cannot believe she says yes. She asks if he is a killer, accepts his answer, and explains that her boyfriend got left behind at a fuel stop. The heat is brutal, she needs a shower, and the nearest motel has exactly one room left. Episode 2 inside the motel is not five stars, but she teases him about girls, ends a phone call with the ex, and asks him for a towel. Closer, she says. Closer still.

Inside the frame

A long road, a hot afternoon and one room at a motel with a flickering sign. The free episodes rely on glances, teasing and one stubborn bed, with the rest left to the imagination.

Best seen: A late-night movie for the open road in your head, with a stranger at the wheel of your intentions.
