Not Under My Roof

Curator’s note

Our groom-to-be sits through a family brunch while his fiancee's mother shuts down his bachelor party, wedding week and all. He nods politely. Then, with the bride napping upstairs, the same woman beckons him down the hall and promises a surprise, as long as everyone keeps their voices low. Episode 1 is the whisper in the hallway and one very strange change of plans. Episode 2 brings the surprise itself: a second woman, Bianca, who happens to be the bride's godmother, and a room where the groom cannot decide where to look. The curator notes that the staircase is doing a great deal of work here, since every creak is a plot point. A study in rogue hospitality.

Inside the frame

A pre-wedding household, a sleeping bride one floor above, and a hostess who sets the rules. The forbidden line is family itself. Both free episodes stay firmly on the suggestive side of the door.

Best seen: Best for the guest who suspects every wedding weekend has a secret second schedule.
