Curator’s note

Emma goes looking for her boyfriend Ryan at a party and finds him upstairs, exactly where he should not be: with Mia, her closest friend. Ryan scrambles for the oldest excuse in the catalog, insisting it means nothing and that Mia started it. The next day Mia acts as if nothing happened, all concern and soft voice, then lets Emma know, sweetly, that a scene would only make her look bad. Emma, adult and very much done, hands Ryan over to Mia with a parting line that lands. Episode 2 is where the pieces start moving toward revenge.

Inside the frame

Betrayal is the whole palette here: a boyfriend caught out, a best friend turned rival, and a heroine who chooses payback over tears. The free part keeps to the confrontation and the fallout.

Best seen: Hang this one when you are in the mood for revenge with good timing and a heroine who refuses to cry.
