Veronica has measured plenty of grooms, and this one, with his fiancée waiting nearby and his mother arguing with the caterer, is the one who gets her attention. Plate I. A groom, five days from his wedding, is measured for a suit by the tailor Veronica, whose professional touch lingers longer than any hem requires. His fiancee phones about caterers and relatives, and he nods through it. The tailor questions his readiness for matrimony and asks him to come back tomorrow, alone.

Plate IIEpisode 2

Plate II. The second fitting is by invitation only. The groom lies to his fiancee about where he is, then lies to himself on the way up the stairs. Veronica locks the door, and the fiancee arrives in the shop at the worst possible moment, waiting on the other side. The tailor seems delighted by the arrangement.
