Curator’s note

Jake has just put down his bags at his girlfriend Chloe's family home when her stepmom Dana introduces herself, and the house's one rule: nothing is hidden here. Episode 1 shows how quickly that rule gets tested. Episode 2 adds a family tradition involving Dana, Chloe's boyfriends past and present, a countdown and a rulebook that grows by one line each time Jake blinks. The first pair of episodes is free, and the rest sits behind tokens. Jake, naturally, is the last to be told what is going on.

Inside the frame

A household with transparent walls and a charming hostess who writes the rules as she goes. Rule one is hands off, rule two is looking too long, and the free part never gets past the hallway.

Best seen: For anyone who has ever wondered what meeting the parents would be like if the parents had a secret handshake.

Plate IEpisode 1

Plate I. On the first day at his girlfriend's family house, Jake learns the household motto: nothing hidden. Her stepmother Dana introduces herself with the confidence of someone who has already met him, in the shower. The girlfriend is aghast, Dana is serene, and Jake is out of his depth. The plate ends with an invitation to come closer.

Plate IIEpisode 2

Plate II. A family tradition is explained to Jake, who cannot decide whether to flee. Dana recites two house rules: nobody touches her until she says so, and nobody looks at her like that. She sets a two minute timer and tells him to sit still. The girlfriend returns in matching lingerie, and the evening swerves.
