My Son's Fiancée

Curator’s note

Mark's wife has asked him to give his son's bride-to-be his honest opinion, and the fiancée takes the request very seriously. She moves in before the wedding and consults him on hemlines, zippers and fittings, while his son keeps working late and his wife stays busy in the next room. Episode 1 is a series of small, polite questions that grow less polite. Episode 2 brings a florist crisis, a garter that needs adjusting and a dress he is not allowed to peek at. Her last question about whether his son deserves her makes the whole house go very quiet.

Inside the frame

A family home before a wedding, a wife forever one wall away and a dress-fitting schedule that doubles as a dare. The line crossed is mostly verbal. The free episodes keep it teasing and tailored.

Best seen: A match for viewers who enjoy mild-mannered men put to the test by an unusually thorough houseguest.
