Curator’s note

A week after the wedding, Tom and Ava are at a beach resort, where Ava's mother Lexi Luna turns up unannounced, tanned and delighted. She has booked the adjoining room, naturally, and insists on checking that her daughter is cared for thoroughly. Tom's eyes say more than his mouth. In episode 2 he admits he should not be in her room, she agrees, and says that is exactly what makes it fun. Ava could hear them if they are not careful. Lexi Luna appears as her licensed AI twin, so nobody real was filmed: the star power is licensed, the mischief is generated.

Inside the frame

A resort suite with a door that does not stay shut. Family loyalty is the line, and the free episodes keep to double meanings, sunburn and one extremely thin wall.

Best seen: A pick for the traveler who likes their vacations complicated, and their in-laws even more so.

Plate IEpisode 1

Newlyweds settle by a hotel pool when the groom spots a striking woman and learns the woman is his mother-in-law, here played by Lexi Luna's licensed AI twin, who filmed nothing herself. She has booked the adjoining room, brought drinks, and declared herself in charge of her daughter's happiness. Everyone calls it perfect, and no one in the scene believes it.

Plate IIEpisode 2

Behind the hotel wall the second episode shifts from comedy of manners to a hushed negotiation. The groom protests, the mother-in-law finds the taboo delightful, and the bride is somewhere within earshot. Caution is whispered, patience is cited, and the episode ends with a confession that she has been planning this ever since the ceremony.
