Curator’s note

A resort week goes sideways when Mum comes down with food poisoning and sends her husband out to keep her daughter Harriet entertained. He agrees, being a polite sort. Harriet has her own plan for the week, and it starts with a request for help reaching her back. Episode 1 is all poolside awkwardness, a phone call that nearly catches them, and a booking for a curtained daybed, charged to Mum's card. Episode 2 slips into a quiet room and a confession that has been brewing since the wedding, while the wife texts from upstairs about biscuits. The curator admires the timing. The sunburn, we suspect, will be metaphorical.

Inside the frame

A sunny resort, a sick wife in the room upstairs, and two people being very bad at hiding something. The forbidden line is the household itself. Both free episodes keep to glances, texts and shaded daybeds.

Best seen: A holiday-brochure kind of evening, for those who believe the real danger on vacation is boredom.

Plate IEpisode 1

Plate I. A resort holiday goes sideways when the mother falls ill and orders her husband to keep his stepdaughter company. Sunscreen, a back she cannot reach and one very warm pair of hands follow. A video call with mum is covered by an obliging lie. The plate ends with a plan to rent a curtained daybed, charged to the invalid's card.

Plate IIEpisode 2

Plate II. Years of quiet glances are finally confessed beside the pool. The stepdaughter has watched her stepfather since the wedding, and he can no longer pretend otherwise. His protests are brief. When mum calls from her sickbed asking for cookies from the shop, the pair buy themselves another ten minutes.
