Curator’s note

Jake lands a position thanks to his girlfriend, who happens to be the stepdaughter of Margot Vey, the executive who runs the entire floor. Episode 1 is a boardroom with a fear factor: Margot corrects a slide, empties the room and keeps only the man who dared to be honest. An invitation to stay late follows, then a text from the girlfriend in the middle of it. Episode 2 is overtime behind a bolted door, with a phone call that nearly ruins everything. Lovely tailoring, terrible judgment. The first part is open to everyone, while the second wants a free profile.

Inside the frame

An office after hours, a hierarchy that doubles as a leash, and a girlfriend due back any minute. The forbidden line is professional and familial at once, and the free part stays on the polite side of the door.

Best seen: For anyone who has ever been told to stay behind and wondered whether it was about the spreadsheet.

Plate IEpisode 1

Plate I. Our hero gets a position through his girlfriend, working for her stepmother, a boardroom executive named Margot Vey. She dismisses the staff, praises his honesty about a faulty slide, and suggests he stay after hours. His girlfriend texts that she will arrive soon. By closing time he has an appointment in the boss's office at nine.

Plate IIEpisode 2

Plate II. Working late takes on a new meaning. The boss locks the door, remarks on what she can tell about him, and promises he will keep his job. The girlfriend then rings from the club, wondering if her boyfriend is behaving. The stepmother answers brightly, and the plate ends on a polite chorus of obedience.
