Curator’s note

A handyman is sent to clean a house for a wife with a short temper and a shorter deadline. In the safe he finds a gold lamp, and in the lamp a jinniyah who has granted four hundred years of requests to kings and bishops, all of them predictable. He asks for the room to be tidied, which she considers the greatest waste of magic on record. Episode 2 raises the stakes: anything, any amount, any woman, and only one name on his list that she did not expect. Two parts are free, and a lamp is a lamp.

Inside the frame

A mansion, a magic object and a rule of three: whoever holds the lamp has power, whoever grants the wish has leverage. The free part plays with temptation, not consequences.

Best seen: A fine choice for a blue-lit night and a story where politeness is the most seductive move.
