My Father's New Queen

Curator’s note

At court, the prince must kneel and kiss the hand of his new stepmother, who is his own age and looks at him before the entire court. Episode 1 happens after the feast: she arrives in his chamber while the king sleeps off the wine, and the shaking hands are his. Then he sees the mark that proves she belongs to his father's enemy. Episode 2 keeps the secret, because he did not tell his father. She is a Vale by birth, her brother's army will arrive in two days, and she offers a choice between his father's side and hers. Five episodes, the first two free.

Inside the frame

A castle, a wedding night and an enemy host marching toward the gates. The forbidden line is a stepmother, the power play is a secret, and the free episodes rely on intrigue and a locked door.

Best seen: For nights when you want royal intrigue, candlelight and a heroine who is a better strategist than every man at the table.
