The King's Chambermaid

Curator’s note

A king stuck in a cold political marriage endures seven days of Harvest Court, and each morning a servant from the kitchens arrives to dress him. Episode 1 shows an unexpected courtesy, a defended maid and a midnight appointment: she turns down his bed, and he is told to be in it. Episode 2 brings the visit, a confession that she has studied him from afar for twelve months and a warning that treason has a very specific penalty. The queen, meanwhile, hears everything. Court intrigue is free through episode 2 and costs tokens afterward.

Inside the frame

A castle where every wall has ears and the heir to the throne has fewer friends than a servant. The free portion stays at curtains, candles and a locked bedchamber door, all of it intrigue.

Best seen: Candlelit viewing for lovers of royal scandal, forbidden class lines and a queen with excellent hearing.
