Under the Chief

Curator’s note

Harriet is one shift from finishing probation, and the head nurse Vanessa wants her gone. The chief of surgery has other plans. He notices her, says the newcomer is with him tonight, and takes her to the on-call room, the only quiet corner on the floor. When Vanessa interrupts with paperwork, he cancels it and orders her to keep everyone away. In episode 2 Harriet apologizes for swearing at the chief, who likes it, while outside Vanessa grows suspicious that the lesson is lasting suspiciously long.

Inside the frame

A hospital after hours, a hierarchy in scrubs and a rival waiting in the corridor. The free episodes tease with locked doors and compliments, and nothing leaves the on-call room.

Best seen: A prescription for the night shift: one confident boss, one nervous newcomer and a corridor full of eavesdroppers.
