The Gods Gave Me My Father's Wife

Curator’s note

Prince Theron returns to the palace and meets Queen Lysandra, who is his father's bride and the woman he has been dreaming of for weeks. She has had the same dreams about him. An oracle at court warns that a serpent now sleeps in the marriage bed, and the king has her removed. Episode 1 is a gaze across the throne room. Episode 2 learns why: the goddess of love has appeared to the queen, and the prophecy, as the king's oracle told it, left out its second half. Then the doors lock behind them. The curator believes gods make poor chaperones. The ceiling mural alone deserves its own room.

Inside the frame

A mythic palace, a divine prophecy, and a queen who married the wrong man on purpose. The forbidden line is the throne. The free episodes keep to dreams, omens and one conveniently locked door.

Best seen: For readers of old myths who always suspected the gods had something to answer for.
