Our New Babysitter

Curator’s note

Mr. Owen's wife has gone out until midnight and left the house in the hands of Sophia, the new sitter, who bills by the hour and knows it. Episode 1 shows her putting the house to bed in record time and asking, with a smile, what else needs doing. A boyfriend texts. A husband replies with a nervous look. In episode 2 the clock is running, the wife rings to say she will crash at a friend's, and Sophia reminds him that her shift runs until dawn.

Inside the frame

A family home after bedtime, an hourly rate and two adults who both have partners. Two relationships are at risk, and the hourly meter is the only thing in charge. Press play on the first chapter right away, register free for the second, and the details hide in the pause.

Best seen: For anyone who likes a polite negotiation in a quiet house, with the evening's rate quietly climbing.
