The New Girl

Curator’s note

Our hero starts his first day on campus with a promise to his girlfriend Chloe and a sense of direction that fails him. A newcomer asks him to help find a room, and then asks whether he has a girlfriend. He does, and he says so. She still needs help carrying books to her dorm. Episode 1 locks the door behind them, with a lesson that is definitely not in the course notes. Episode 2 brings Chloe's phone call at the worst possible moment and a very short window to decide what to say. The curator values the pacing: ten minutes, one lie and no one to check the clock but you.

Inside the frame

A college dorm, a girlfriend a phone call away, and a stranger who has already decided. The forbidden line is the promise he made. The free episodes stay at flirtation, a locked door and a ringing phone.

Best seen: For anyone who has ever said they would be right back and then lost track of the hour.
