Family Reunion: My New Step-Cousin

Curator’s note

Lea shows up to a reunion at the ranch with a boyfriend who is far more interested in the horses. Then she meets Jake, her new step-cousin, who is not exactly a relative and is cuter than advertised. Episode 1 is a brief, charged conversation about being only sort of related, followed by a family arrangement in which Jake is asked to show Lea the ranch in the morning. She is keen to be shown more than the stables. Episode 2 moves the hush to a hideaway with her boyfriend just outside and a quiet game of keeping quiet. Five episodes, the first two free. Boots are optional, discretion is not.

Inside the frame

A ranch full of relatives, a boyfriend who loves horses and a technicality about blood. The forbidden line is a loophole, and the free episodes lean on whispers, teasing and near discovery.

Best seen: For a cowboy-hat kind of evening, with a gentle drawl, a ridiculous alibi and a lot of fence to peek over.
