Our hero wanders the woods, loses to the weather and knocks at a remote chapel. Two nuns open the door, one cheerfully sinful, the other trying to manage her. They count the years since a man last stayed, then hurry to dry him off and feed him. Episode 1 is a comedy of mixed signals: a prayer list that includes dolphins and world peace, and an ominous promise about tonight's plans. Episode 2 moves to bedtime. The bell by his bed, the visit that nobody explains, and a midnight dash through the corridors with a rival sister closing in. Absolution is pending.

Plate I. A traveler, lost in a forest storm, knocks on the door of a convent and finds the sisters unusually welcoming. They offer a gown, a seat at dinner and careful remarks on the lack of male guests lately. The prayer list is long, and there is a plan for him tonight. A frank warning about it follows.

Plate II. The visitor wants to know the sisters' plans and receives answers that are far too polite to be true. One sister mentions a bell and the offer of anything. After a late coffee, he is awake, the chapel is dark and a whispered voice outside the door urges the others to move before the abbess arrives.
