Halloween with My Stepsister

Curator’s note

Haley turns up in her stepbrother's dorm room dressed as a devil, announcing a night of mischief and a new game. Episode 1 reveals that the parents are driving through the night and will arrive by midnight, which gives the pair a countdown and a lot of time alone. She calls him stepbrother and wants to know why, after three years, he never gave her more than a glance. The game is simple. Whenever someone knocks, he chooses trick or treat, and whatever he picks, he gets. Five episodes in total, and free viewers get the opening two. A costume party, a deadline and no running away this time.

Inside the frame

A single dorm room, five hours and a door that will not stop being knocked on. The line between stepsiblings is the point, the game is the leverage, and free viewers get dares and costumes only.

Best seen: A spooky-season pick: candy-colored mischief, a ticking clock and a choice that is never really a choice.
