Curator’s note

Kayla sends her boyfriend to give her mom Diana a lift home while her car is in the shop. Diana praises his manners, wonders what he is like otherwise, and leaves him wondering whether the fastest drive of his year was an accident. As she steps out, she asks for a pickup tomorrow, and to keep it quiet. Episode 2 finds her outside her office at six, telling him to leave the engine running, and pointing out that her daughter works far too much. Kayla texts that she is late again. Diana, delighted, says she has plenty to keep herself busy.

Inside the frame

The front seat, the rearview mirror and a husband who somehow does not count. The line being crossed is a daughter's trust, and the free episodes keep to sly remarks and a long drive.

Best seen: For the commuter who suspects the best conversations happen in parked cars, with the engine running and nobody asking questions.
