My New Stepmom Used to Be a Stripper

Curator’s note

Jake's father introduces his new wife, Mia, over the barbecue. Jake recognizes her at once: the dancer from his friend Tyler's bachelor party, known then by another name. She plays dumb, until he mentions a certain tattoo. Now she needs his silence, and the price she names is one more private performance, midnight, living room, curtains drawn. Episode 1 closes on a handshake deal and a father who thinks his family is bonding beautifully. The curator would call the lighting noir and the household gently catastrophic. A portrait of a secret, with the secret standing in the doorway.

Inside the frame

A suburban home, a cover story, and a bargain struck behind the host's back. The power play is blackmail turned into flirtation. The free episode stays at a sly deal and a countdown to midnight.

Best seen: For anyone who has ever recognized a person in the wrong place and decided to say nothing.
