Dad, I'm 21 Now

Curator’s note

Alma is twenty-one as of this weekend, and her stepbrother has come home for the summer. Their mother warns them to share the bathroom nicely and keep their doors shut, and Alma announces to everyone that she is an adult now. At night she tells him about her list, and number one is him. Their parents are under the same roof, which she finds delightful. In episode 2 Dad is still awake, the stepbrother protests that they are family only by marriage, and she says she was never sorry. Alma wants one present this year.

Inside the frame

A summer house with thin walls and a family that insists on closed doors. The free episodes live on whispers, rules and one very persuasive birthday wish, with the risk of getting caught as the main attraction.

Best seen: A fine choice for a warm night when the secret stays in the house, and the stairs squeak.
